Spring is upon us, carrying with it the first, fleeting wisps of summer fun. But for the many mortals summer sun also means summer employment. Whether it’s waiting tables, manning carnival rides, or chasing campers, they slog through the kind of jobs that pay in humorous anecdotes to last a lifetime. So, step right up! Welcome to Adventureland (2009) – where the staff are quasi-pubescent while the rides are older than your grandmother. Then step over to Waiting (2005) for a delicious desert, compliments of a slacker staff of misfits who are happy to show you what happens behind the scenes when customers are rude to the “help”. Finally, it’s off to the woods with the staff of Camp Firewood, for one Wet Hot American Summer (2001). … Just don’t try the ropes course.
