the editing bin #33: “I just figure if I gotta be in school, I might as well hit some people while I’m at it.” Louie Lastik, Remember the Titans (2000) (57:01)
*Insert humorous football reference here* Rachel and Stephanie are off to the stadium this week with the amazing true story of pro football player Michael Oher in The Blindside (2009). Football has the ability to build friendships and start bar fights faster than many things in our society. When a team is lost, the foundations of a community are rocked as we see in We Are Marshall (2006), a film based upon the real story of the horrific plane crash. Finally, football as a team sport can inspire sacrifice, honor and a work ethic that is worthy of celebration. Who better to exemplify this ability than Rudy (1993) — he’s five foot nothing, but all heart.
The Critic's Pick for this week is Life as a House (2001)
